Choosing the Right AFSL

Choosing the right AFSL for you and your business

Can you help me grow my business?

We have resources available to help you grow your practice. InterPrac Financial Planning provides a full service solution for those requiring and wanting guidance in developing a profitable and successful Financial Planning business. InterPrac Financial Planning has successfully grown as a small business too, from one in-house Adviser in 2003, to a national network of over 300 Authorised Representatives.

We provide you with weekly practice management and marketing tips, new product opportunities and service ideas in addition to compliance education, market developments and legislative updates.

For those interested, we offer practice management consulting and business coaching to help you get established, grow and build a long term action plan which includes both personal and professional development as well as succession planning.

How do you manage your Approved Product List (APL)?

An Approved Product List (APL) is a list of investment, risk insurance products, superannuation and classes of financial product that the licensee has approved for use by its authorised representatives.

Our APL is managed by our Investment Committee. We have a diverse approved product list including ASX 300 shares (including Exchange Traded Funds and Listed Investment Companies) and the ability to seek approval for stocks outside the ASX 300, all insurance providers and all product platforms.

Advice on direct shares must be underpinned by qualitative research obtained from a qualified source, such as a stock broker or analyst.

Managed Funds must have an approved rating by Morningstar Research (a highly regarded independent research provider). However, we do look at research from other providers (such as Lonsec and SQM) if and when required.

What planning software do you use?

Our mission is to help advisers build a profitable, sustainable business, and enable you to deliver an integrated and practical financial service solution to your clients. To support this endeavour, we recognise that many planners may have existing relationships with a variety of software providers and we work with those providers where possible to implement the InterPrac Financial Planning templates and tools.

Software costs are not included in Authorised Representative fees. You may choose to use any software you like. These costs will vary subject to the software you use and the modules you choose within it. We support Xplan, Midwinter and AdviserLogic software, plus Astute Wheel: Client Engagement Tools, which means you can have access to these at wholesale rates with all key documents coded for your benefit.

You are not required to have software if you do not wish to have it. You can use the broad collection of documents we have available including those of the software providers noted above, or alternatively, once approved by our Compliance Manager, you can use your own Fact Find and Risk Profile tools.

Can I brand my own business?

Yes. You have worked hard to build your practice, and we encourage you to continue to grow your own brand and practice identity.

How do you provide research and technical support?

On-line research from Morningstar Research on managed funds, direct shares, LIC’s and ETF’s is provided, and registration with Technical Support Hotlines with most product providers (including BT, TAL, AIA, Challenger, Macquarie, IOOF, Netwealth, AMP and Colonial to name a few) has been set up.

As members of Centrepoint Alliance Dealer Services, you also have access to their in-house experts, which include key technical support for SMSF, Retirement Planning, Estate Planning and Centrelink.
